When nothing is hatching I have three flies I like to use. One is the jailbird( a generic larva pattern), the gilbuster streamer in white and brown and a fluttering caddis. One of them usually get things started. How about the rest of you.

Sucker spawn in a variety of colors. Easy to tie and catches even lock jaws. Cool

Hi Rich,
To post a pic you need to save the pic size no more then 4mb. Save to a file on your computer. When you are ready to post click on "reply to post" then click "Add image to post" under the big white box and browse to the folder where you saved the pic. Title it if you would like and hit upload.
I tried to make it easy for any registered member to post their pics. Let me know if you need help.

I'll post a pic as soon as I take one but here it the recipe.

Jail Bird

Hook: #12-16 scud hook
Thread: Red 6-8 depending on hook size.
Rib: Red thread or red fine wire. I use embroidery thread.
Body: BWO beaver dubbing.
Wing Case: White foam.
Head: Red thread.

1.) Place hook in vice and start thread 1/4 of the shank behing the eye. Wind back to the bend and tie in the ribbing at the same time. Let the ribbing hand or place it in the material keeper.
2.) Make a thin dubbing rope and wrap a tapered body to 3/4 the shank length. Do not remove any dubbing from the thread because you are going to need it for the next step.
3.) Tie in foam strip with dubbed thread and make a small bubble.
4.) Make three wraps to hold down the front of the foam strip with the dubbed thread.
5.) Wrap a small head. Whip finish and cement.

Your done
*When fishing this place enough weight 6-8 inches in front of the fly to bounce the bottom. Most takes will be vey hard. I usually fish this in a size 14.
